Hey guys, I’m Steven Burton, founder of Perfect Tux. I’m here to give you your official 2018 Prom Guide for Guys. I’ll be going over a few things like, why buying a tux is so much better than renting one, how to place an order with Perfect Tux, and how early you should start preparing for prom.
I will never forget my Prom back in 2002. I was nervous and uncertain about the whole prospect. “Hot in Herre” was on constant repeat on the radio. It was an awkward season. In many ways prom has changed a lot. We now have social media to keep up with the latest trends, “promposals” provide a whole new way to say “will you go to prom with me?”, and then there’s the helpful/not so helpful advice online about how the whole process should go.
However, the one thing that has not changed in the whole prom process, is the same old fashioned way of renting tuxedos. Tuxedos, I might add, that have been worn by tens of hundreds of other equally sweaty and nervous people. That’s something to think about.
Anyway, I remember back when I was preparing for Prom and I had never worn a suit or tuxedo before. In our school newspaper there was an ad on a local tuxedo shop where all the guys’ went to rent their prom tux. I went inside, and saw one of the most beat up catalogs I had ever seen to help select a basic tux. The only personality I could add to the look was selecting the color of my vest and tie (which I had to try and match to my dates dress).
Me at Prom 2002 - That's one big tuxedo, lol.
One minute they were taking my measurements, and the next it was wham bam, no thank you ma’am; and I was done. It felt like being on an assembly line. Subconsciously, this whole experience lead to the idea of the “Perfect Tux”. Or, rather, the idea of making the purchasing process of owning a tuxedo as perfect as perfect can be.
I didn’t think anything about the “process” of prom until after- and I mean years later: You go to a shop, try on your tux, and leave. The only alterations they do at rental companies are minor adjustments to the length of your pants and sleeves of your jacket.
Very underwhelming and uninspiring. And that’s one of the main reasons I created Perfect Tux. We throw out the traditional tux rental model in favor of reasonably priced, unique and trendy items. Guys nowadays care much more about fashion than I did when I was in high school. So if you want to stand out and look like you’re walking the red carpet Perfect Tux has you covered.
The Perfect Tux sells all the styles that you can’t rent anywhere. We offer a variety of tuxedos that are meant to wow your date and your friends, this just can’t be done with your standard rental. We guarantee that.
Let’s keep it simple. Here’s the process:
1. Figure Out Your Size.
I know, like pre-prom me, this might be your first time wearing a suit or tuxedo. So how do you know your size? We made it real easy. Go to our Sizing Guide and you can look up your height and weight and find the correct size for you. We'll also show you how to measure yourself. You'll also find a Sizing Chart on each product page. Look for the "Sizing Chart" tab by the product description. And if worse comes to worse, you can go to a local tailor and have them measure you for your size. Also, feel free to contact us via chat, email, or phone and we'll be happy to help you determine your size.
2. Find Your Style
We have over 100 styles of tuxedos, suits, and blazers. I
would start off at our Prom Page and go from there. We also created a Match the Dress page for prom color inspiration based on your dates dress.
3. Don’t Forget to Accessorize
We sell shirts, vest, ties, shoes, and more. Accessories
really help in matching your dates prom dress. You can also save some money by
“Making It A Package” – Get 15% off your tuxedo when you purchase a tuxedo,
vest, and shirt. For details click here.
4. Free Shipping
We offer free shipping for orders over $99, that covers
every tuxedo, suit, or blazer on our website. So it’s free shipping right to
5. Money Back Guarantee
Don’t like it for any reason? Need another size? We have a Money Back Return and Exchange policy. Visit our return policy for
How Early Should I Order?
I would suggest ordering your prom outfit no later than a month
before your event. You want to give yourself enough time to receive your tuxedo
or suit and make any alterations for that perfect fit. You also want to make
sure the style that you have your heart set on is available. But know, during prom
season, our fashion looks sell out quick! So if you see something you like and your size is available I
would act fast before it sells out.
